A 1992 Dodge Camper Van with Retro Flair
Alyssa’s van is a unique blend of vintage character and smart functionality. The retro vibes shine through in her warm-toned color palette—think browns, oranges, and yellows—paired with thoughtful, thrifted decor and sentimental handmade touches from her grandmother. It’s a true reflection of her personality and love for the 70s aesthetic.

A Clever Kitchen Setup
Cooking on the road doesn’t mean sacrificing style or function. Alyssa’s compact kitchen features a two-burner stove, a propane/electric fridge covered in cute wallpaper, a butcher block countertop, and an upgraded faucet. Her favorite item? A Bellman stovetop espresso maker that lets her craft creamy lattes every morning.

A Living Room, Bedroom, and Dining Room in One
The van’s main living space cleverly transforms from a dinette to a full-size bed. While the setup is convertible, Alyssa usually keeps it in “bed mode” and uses her kitchen counter as a dining area. The result? A comfy, inviting space that works for lounging, working, and sleeping.

Embracing Solo Female Van Life
Before van life, Alyssa had already visited 27 countries, but the urge to explore never faded. Encouraged by her best friend, she realized that van life could be her ticket to full-time travel without breaking the bank. After making the brave decision to leave everything behind, she’s now living life on her own terms—and empowering others to consider doing the same.

A Bathroom Setup That Just Works
No compost toilet here—Alyssa’s van includes a traditional RV-style toilet with a black water tank, making it easy to manage without manual removal. Showers? She uses her Planet Fitness membership or an outdoor shower when needed.

Custom Dog Area & Smart Storage
Traveling with pets? Alyssa has it figured out. Her dogs have a dedicated, safe space in the front of the van with seat harnesses and access to the dashboard. The van also boasts a compact closet with a hanging bar, plus loads of tucked-away storage to keep things organized on the road.

Alyssa purchased her camper van for just $15,000, invested $1,500 in mechanical updates, and completed the interior design for under $600, thanks to smart thrifting. It’s proof that you don’t need to spend a fortune to create a beautiful and functional home on wheels.

Advice for Aspiring Van Lifers
